Starting a company is a difficult thing to do, even if you have a plan. One couple decided to sell their fund-raising business to start up a new business selling soy-based candles and focusing on the Richly Scented Candle.
They ended up trying out three business plans while starting up their company. Plan number one was going brick and mortar. Plan number two was going the wholesale route. Plan number three was an e-commerce solution. Luckily for them, the third time was the charm.

They now sell their scented candles to individual customers who pay online via credit card. This eliminated any credit and collection hassles. This also means no more worries about location, and no more rude wholesale customers. The couple works hard on their advertising, maintains their own website, and pours their won candles, but they do not need a lot of additional help.
The help they do have all enjoy working with their customers. This formula works well for them. The final advice of the couple is to pursue the model that works for you. Some people might prefer the retail scenario while others might prefer the wholesale situation. Since all of the business models are potentially successful, a person just has to decide which one is right for them and whatever business venture they undertake.
